My Fortune Cookie

Nang minsang bumisita ako sa isang department dito sa hospital kung saan ako nagtatrabaho, may isang bagay na naka-pukaw ng aking atensyon - isang fishbowl na may kung ano-anong mga papel na naka-rolyo, at may naka-sulat, "Get your fortune cookie."

Sa tanang buhay ko, nakaka-dalawang fortune cookie pa lang ako. Ang una, binili ko sa isang sikat na Chinese fastfood chain sa Pilipinas. Ang mensahe? Hindi ko na maalala. Ang ikalawa, nakain at na-nguya ko kasama ng cookie. Mas lalong hindi ko maaalala ang laman nito. At ito, pangatlo. Pero walang cookie. Fortune cookie na walang cookie. Cool!

Pinoy Pride

Pinoy ako, pinoy tayo. Ipakita sa mundo, kung ano ang kaya mo.

In the cyber world, you would usually see people saying "I'm proud to be a Filipino", to a video showing a Filipino showing great talent, or on some posts that shows Filipino goodness. However, some will be annoyed with what they say, and will try to bash these people with negative comments. Then, the clash begins. Same old story.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Doo-bi-doo, bi-doo-bi-doo!

Tulad ng iba, ito ang unang beses na magsusulat ako sa wikang Filipino sa aking blog, ang KubetangPag-iisip. (Baho ng pangalan!) Ito ay dahil sa kadahilanang napapansin ko na mas maikli ang aking masusulat kung gagamit ako ng wikang Ingles (kung gagamit ako ng salitang Filipino, mapaparami ang isusulat ko. Haha). At dahil Agosto (Buwan ng Wika) na sa susunod na buwan, kaya ako ay susulat sa wikang Filipino [Palusot lamang].

Definitely not your ordinary guy.

I was on the church with my mates (I am an altar server) when one of my friends started a conversation.

L: Eh ano bang gamit mo? (What brand do you use?)

J: Kojic soap.

L: Kaya naman pala biglang naging ganyan mukha mo. (That's why your face is like that.)

Me: Oo nga, hindi maganda ang Kojic soap sa mga may sugat sa mukha dahil sa pimples. (Yes, Kojic soap is not good for those with pimple wounds.)

A: Oo nga, acid kasi yun. (Of course, because it's an acid.)

J: Eh, ngayon lang naman ang sakripisyo. (No, I just need to sacrifice for now.)

A: Basta ako, ang gamit ko, Master. Hiyang ang balat ko dun. (For me, I use Master (astringent). My skin is used to it.)

L: Basta ako, Olay. (For me, I use Olay.)

A: Wow! Bigtime! Kaya pala pumuti ang mukha mo. (Wow! Bigtime! Maybe that's the reason why your face turned fairer.)

These conversations are really not the ones that I will start. I don't usually talk about things like this, and I don't usually like these things.

My Ambrosia~

ambrosia (n.)

- in Greek and Roman mythology, the food or drink of the gods.

Come near me, polvoron!~

Well, just recently, I discovered what I would call my own "ambrosia". It is a polvoron from Goldilocks, the plain one. I don't know, I just found a piece from my sister's sweets stash, tried it, and really fell in love with its sweet, creamy flavor. It not just tingles your tastebuds when you eat it, but it also triggers your salivary glands to produce a really drooly mouth.

Under pressure.

My life has been full of pressure. I have done whatever others tell me to do, and I always lived according to other people's expectations, and those expectations, are usually high.

I have always thought of giving up on these pressures in life. I'm like, "No, thanks.. But I still can live without all your pressures." I can become whoever I wanted to be. I want to be as ordinary as others. I wanted to go to "jamming places", to late night parties, to anywhere everyone goes to enjoy their lives. There are times where I wanted to just disappear, where I felt that I'm going to burst if these did not stop. However, I'm too weak to give up those expectations.

Signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours.......to eat.

I've always been a fan of packed lunch. Since grade school, my mother would usually have our food packed for us to eat during lunch break, or bring the food to our school and see us eat the food she prepared. My mom always wants to cook, be it a everyday-food or experimental ones. And, I must say, I am a very big fan of my mom's cooking.
