Sannga ba ang punta natin?

Well I had a very lengthy discussion with a very good friend, and this time, the topic is about "heaven and hell", which, I guess is a quite heavy topic for a casual conversation.

Paniwala nya kasi, there is no heaven, hell, or purgatory, while I think otherwise. He believes that we are placed here on earth and it is here where we should make our own heaven, doing what Jesus has made while He is here on earth, and we should all strive to live a good Christian life. That way, our stay here on earth becomes heaven.


Ang argument ko naman, using the scriptures. There are numerous times where a place called "heaven", where God stays was mentioned in the bible. Kahit nga sa last part ng passion of Christ, one of the prisoners who were crucified with Jesus even asked Him to also be brought to "that place".

So to cut the long story short, well it was a very good casual talk, we did accept each other's opinions on the matter. Tama nga naman, both are valid and good arguments din naman.

As we parted ways, at habang hinihintay ko yung isaw na pinapa-ihaw ko, there was one question which struck me the most, which also lingered on my mind for a very long time.

"So, kuya, sabihin na nating may langit at impyerno, at mapupunta tayo sa langit if we do good during our stay, and sa hell if we don't, edi parang may kapalit lang ang paggawa natin ng mabuti?"

Oo nga naman. Good point. Takot kasi tayong lahat mapunta sa impyerno where there is pain and suffering, kaya siguro tayo umiiwas sa masama at gumagawa ng mabuti.

In the end, naisip ko, yeah, we should do good and avoid doing evil to become more Christlike, rather than to avoid eternal damnation and expecting something comforting after death, like heaven.
